In this clip, Stephen Heppel talks about children's involvement in classroom design. He highlights the difference between simply asking for opinions and involving children in researching and design. This is an inspiring talk about the possibilities with Modern Learning Environments. Involving children in the decision making process at this level may not be appropriate for Rachel and I as we embark on the journey of MLE. However, we will be able to involve the children in the classroom layout and choice of specific areas needed in the classroom.
Dr Kenn Fischer highlights the attributes of a successful learning environment in Linking Pedagogy and Space and the importance of identifying purposeful areas and settings. We will need to consider areas for group work, presentations, a wet area, small breakouts, display areas, wet area, outdoor areas and individual working pods.
